On Tablas Island, we stayed at a place called Escape Eco Resort, which was on the west side of the island. Our accommodation was 998 php ($26 aud) per night, which included a queen size bed with a fan. It was very basic but it was all we needed for our stay. F.Y.I, most of the accommodation on the islands is v basic so don’t be expecting nothing fancy. After a yummy chicken adobo and some pancit. (soy chicken and fried noodles) we watched the beautiful sunset and hit the sack!
The next morning we organized to hire a scooter for the day to do some explorin’. Depending on where your staying, some places may have bikes and scooters for you to hire, some may not. In this case we had to walk over to the next resort to hire our scooter. Lucky it was only a 10min walk down the shore. To hire our scooter it was 600 php ($15 aud per day).
There is a signed turn off for Aglicay Beach Resort that you’ll take then it’s a 15min drive through some unpaved roads and before you know your on a beautiful beach! It’s a 100 php (2.60 aud) entrance fee for the day or you can stay there for around $39 aud per night. The beach itself is well maintained and looked after. A white sand strip with big palms trees, a tire swing, and some benches and sun beds.
After our somewhat unpleasant ride to this place we wanted to have a swim and refresh ourselves. We had only taken a few steps into the water and saw huge amounts of starfish chilling everywhere in the shallows. All with different sizes and colours, we had to be careful we didn’t step on any! After a refreshing dip we noticed in the distance a trail leading up a mountain, we were enticed!. Camera and drone in hand we decided to explore. It was a beautiful, easy trail with an amazing view at the top but the heat was REAL.
When we got back down we went and got a Gatorade and a fresh coconut to hydrate ourselves! After swimming and just chilling for a while we decided to head back to our accommodation. Overall it was a lovely day and a beautiful beach. If you’re in Tablas and looking for a nice clear beach Aglicay is for you!
