AMMOUDI BAY: THE EXPERIENCE
With a reputation of the best seafood in Santorini, Ammoudi Bay offers romantic seaside wining and dining with a whole lot of Cycladic charm. Feasting not only on your lunch or dinner but also the stunning view.
The first time we visited was when we got off the cruise for a day in Santorini. We were on a tight time schedule so it was a quick visit. Basically to get down to Ammoudi, there’s a road that takes you down the hill, this road is always packed with parked cars and ATV’s. So what we suggest is to hire an ATV because they fit in most small places cars cant and you should be able to steal a park (even if its sideways).
If you don’t manage to steal a park, the walk down from the top of the street is about 10 minutes down and 15 back up. After lunch just jackie and I went back up and grabbed the ATV’s so we could come back down and give the oldies a lift back up. With four restaurants to choose from, The first one along the bay caught our eye. It was Ammoudi Fish Tavern. The freshly caught octopus air drying on a line instantly told us “this is the one”.
Ammoudi is also known for great snorkelling and rock jumping so why not make the day of it and have a fresh seafood and wine lunch or dinner after your swim. Sounds heavenly right?
