COME SEE CHARLES HAMEY LOOKOUT,

This is actually a 2-for-1 because to get to the lookout you’ll pass by another lookout that is often confused for Charles Hamey. You’ll need to park at the end of Charles Hamey Rd, which has a viewing deck adjacent – And hence where the confusion begins. Although this viewpoint is the photo plastered everywhere with the Charles Hamey Lookout Geo-tag, this isn’t actually it. Still beautiful and definitely worth a look!
The official lookout is located within the Kattang Nature Reserve and you’ll know you’re headed to it when you pass a NSW Parks and Wildlife sign that says “Charles Hamey Lookout 500m” with an arrow pointing into the reserve. It’s a pretty breezy walk through the bush and before you know it you’ll come out at the tip of Camden Head to the official viewing deck of Charles Hamey.
Albeit the view from here is much like the first in that it looks out over Gogleys Bay, toward Dunbogan Beach. And yes you can still see out over Gogleys Lagoon inland to North Brother Mountain BUT before you decide to scrap the walk I will say this. For such a small amount of extra effort you’ll share this space with way less people than you will the first.
Plus you can stand at the very tip of the deck throw your arms up and pretend your on the Titanic II. You know the one that sails to Australia and doesn’t hit an iceberg leaving your new romance to freeze to death and sink into the dark abyss… Yeah imagine you’re on that one 🙂
