2 – 3 mins from Monash Cres.
Clontarf Beach is the ultimate fam family hang out. With lots of shady grass areas, bbq facilities, a kiosk and swimming enclosure we can see how this spots is definitely a local favourite.
Unfortunately prices on most things increase slightly after you cross the harbour bridge over to the north. That means $10+ an hour parking to have a damn picnic and go for a swim. Or you can chose the smarter option, save your dollars and park on Monash Cresent then walk 2 – 3 mins over to the beach.
It is from here that we walked by some over to explore some of the most secluded, stunning beaches of Middle Head, finishing at Castle Rock. You can walk along the Clontarf Track from the sand at Clontarf Beach heading west, around the bend and up the stairs, this is where you will start getting glimpses of the most beautiful, isolated bays.
The walk from Clontarf Beach to Castle Rock Beach is around 2km return. The trail is moderate with plenty of stairs and sometimes passing muddy areas. But! as per usual, is alwayyyyys worth it. In our opinion, the best spots were along the track before Castle Rock because they were extra secluded with the clearest water.
Why not make a day of it and do a little beach hopping around these sandy, private shores.
