Clontarf to Castle Rock Beach had us in awe of it’s beauty. Showcasing more small, secluded bays with the clearest water along the way, this walk is highly recommended by us.
If you dig the kinda coastal walks that don’t involve too many people, this is a great option. You can start the walk from either Clontarf Reserve of The end of Monash Cres. which brings you to Clontarf Point. We entered the located in the ‘Get Directions’ of where we parked for free, alternatively, if you wish you can also pay for parking in Clontarf Reserve.
The goodness well and truly starts after you’ve climbed the small staircase at Clontarf Point, as you’re walking along the cliff you will start getting glimpses of the small pockets of heaven below you. We found there were two main other anonymous sandy shores along the path that instantly stole our hearts. And for good reason. Private sandy shore, calm, tranquil waters, clear and blue… what more could you want?
On to Castle Rock, there’s a staircase that will lead you down to the covey beach where you might want to chill for a while. The walk was moderate with some steep and inclined parts, a brisk walk without stopping could take you 20 – 30 minutes or leisurely, with stops, anywhere up to 3 hours. It can be muddy in some spots too so make sure you don’t have slippery flip flops on and take your time getting down to these spots. But most of all, enjoyyyyy yourself! bring a picnic, some snorkels, your cat.. Anything!
