NURRAGINGY RESERVE WALK: THE EXPERIENCE

We would say Nurragingy walk was quite a leisurely one as opposed to some of the other walks we’ve done. The scenery was gorgeous, especially in golden hour. The loop walking track has no major start and end point, there are more than one entrances into the walk as its all very open. We began the walk from the main carpark starting at the Lorikeet Marsh entrance. Lorikeet Marsh is one of the few remaining natural wetlands in the Blacktown area man was it lush.

We passed over the platform and followed the track until we met the paved road and took a right turn walked right up passed rosella and kookaburra picnic areas until we met with the Aboriginal Gardens to our right. “Nurragingy” commemorates one of the two men of the Darug tribe who received the first Aboriginal land grant from Governor Macquarie in 1819.

After spending some time admiring the Aboriginal artwork we decided to head back down the way we came stopping at Rosella picnic area and taking the Educational walking trail.

This took us down passed the mini railway and magpie picnic area until we reached the lake and Chinese garden/waterfall. Was a very peaceful, pretty walk. Great for an easy morning/afternoon walk, a picnic with friends or even just a solo chill sesh.
