THE EXPERIENCE
Just 2 hours North of Newy and 3 from Sydney you’ll find a little spot by the name of Seal Rocks, and by little I mean little. It’s more of a holiday spot than an actual town with the holiday park housing just as many visitors as the town has residents. Perfect for anyone that prefers secluded shores over those lined with cafes and boutique stores.
Sugarloaf Point is definitely one of the highlights here and if your only stopping overnight then I’d say its a must-do. There are two ways you can enjoy the vistas of the wide open ocean. The first being from the lookout point located just behind the Seal Rocks Lighthouse Cottages. Just look out for this tiny little inconspicuous sign and follow the pathway down to the beautifully manicured grass area.
The second way to enjoy Sugarloaf Point is to venture down to the beach and get among the rocks themselves. The tide was on its way out when we visited and we found a gorgeous little canal like waterway that was open at both ends to the ocean but had the most calm pool of water sitting right in the middle.
And if you’ve come out this far then you should climb to the top and visit the Sugarloaf lighthouse too because that’s where the most incredible views are both out over the sea, down Lighthouse Beach and back in toward Seal Rocks.
