200m from Strickland House
Just a short stroll from Queens beach is another little secretive patch of sand called Tingara Beach. Located between Hermit Bay and Milk Beach on the Heritage Foreshore Walk you’ll come across a lone palm on the edge of a rock that overlooks the beach and Sydney Harbour.
There are two ways to access this beach. The first is via a small break in the vegetation just past the palm tree. The steps are made from large uneven rocks that will have you grabbing for things to hold on to. Luckily enough someone left a construction fence here for just that purpose.
The second is way more inconspicuous and requires you to backtrack a few steps. Before you reach the palm tree there’s a narrow fisherman staircase that will take you directly down to the water. In low tide it offers a protected shallow swimming area to the left with large flat rocks that enable you to walk around to Tingara Beach on the right. This spot definitely has those small island vibes and made us feel like we were far away from the city.
See the Rose Bay to Watsons Bay Experience Guide for more information on the Hermitage Foreshore Walk.
