VLYCHADA BEACH: THE EXPERIENCE
This was a beauuuuty. And definitely the first black sand beach we had visited. When your approaching the beach, you don’t really expect it because its through an industrial kind of area with a tomato industrial museum around the corner from the shore. Once we passed the museum and a small bend, our eyes met the ocean! There is a small parking space next to the beach where there’s also a cafe renting day beds and umbrellas.
When we got on to the beach we followed a slatted wooden path down the shore where we came across quite a few nudists living their best lives. I swear there was at least one per beach in the Greek islands! So, as per usual we tried to get as further away from them as we could so we could send the drone up without them thinking were some creepers tryna get some shots. And drone we did. The contrast of the black sand to the white wash was soooo beautiful. We could sit there all day and be mesmerized by the waves.
The beach reminded us of Pt. Willunga in South Australia because of the tall sandy cliffs surrounding the shore. They formed some of the most beautiful carved patterns from the wind. Crazy how artistic nature can be.
Vlychada was farrrrr less busy then Red Beach and you didn’t have to worry about any rocks falling on your head. A beach you should 100% visit when in Santorini!
